Who can receive a grant?

The Foundation will award grants only to organizations exempt from taxation under 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.  A grant recipient will demonstrate that it will use the funds for the exclusive benefits of the residents of Missoula County in one of the areas described below or in accordance with your grant terms.

Grant recipients will be required to provide evidence that they have expended the funds for the purpose for which they were given.  Organizations that fail to comply with Foundation reporting requirements may be ineligible for future funding.

What Will the Foundation Generally Not Fund?

The Foundation maintains some flexibility within its statement of purpose, but in general will not consider funding requests for the following:

• Endowment campaigns
• Funds to be redistributed under another name
• Religious programs that serve, or appear to serve, specific religious denominations
• Individuals
• Existing obligations or debts/liabilities
• Organizations already funded in the current calendar year
